Happy Due Date Anniversary!

It's been awhile since I've updated, school has just gotten progressively more and more unbearable as we get closer to the end of the year, and for the last few weeks, I've been very consumed with party preparations.  BUT, as it's actually before 9pm and I have a minute (ignoring those dozens of google classroom notifications and emails asking 'how do I get my grade up?'...), I thought a post on our due date was fitting.

It's been amazing watching these two girls the last few months - it seems like they grow by leaps and bounds.  Even just making their birthday posters, they already had reached new milestones after I had already created the text and couldn't go back to update them!

The girls are currently One Year (corrected) today!/ one year + 2 months (actual).  On their actual birthday, they could finally sit up unassisted, kneel and stand with support, army crawl (Delilah was much faster than her sister, who was a little behind on learning how), and I think Delilah was pulling to stand, at least in her crib.  Now, they can both pull to stand and are cruising on whatever furniture they can, they get in and out of sit super easy, they can climb stairs, and they can walk with help without looking too much like drunk babies.  We can say mama and dada but they don't mean anything, and Madeline shakes her head and says no no no no!  They definitely understand 'no' because they'll leave things alone when you've said it a few times, or they'll look at you and laugh and do whatever it is that they wanted to do anyway.  Naps are usually much better (we're down to 1 nap and a pretty early bedtime), and bedtime is good as long as we're actually tired.  Eating is still hit or miss - sometimes we do good, some times we don't, I have no idea what they want and they don't use any of the signs we've shown them.  We're on our last bit of formula, which is super exciting - I can't wait to get the brezza off my counter!  I've actually dumped the formula out and am just using it for water measurements.  We're only doing 3 ounce bottles when they wake up and milk with every meal anyway.

We also had the girls big birthday party this past weekend - I wanted to invite more people, but at the time of creating our guest list, the CDC hadn't relaxed things just yet, so Grant wanted me to keep it smaller.  I'd say next time we'll invite everyone, but after the massive undertaking that is hosting a party at your house while working full time and taking care of one year old twins, that won't be happening lol.  We were so happy that so many people got to celebrate with us though, and the volume of the girls' happy birthday song from all of those people almost made me cry - I can't tell you how good it was to finally see friends and family after over a year of basically isolation and celebrate these babies who had a rough start last March.  Thank you to everyone that helped as I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off as well -_-
Here's a tired picture of us before cake lol

This week is CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia)'s 25th annual reunion for their Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment.  While we were referred to CHOP for what we thought was Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome, during our three visits there, we learned that our girls had had brain hemorrhaging and didn't actually meet the criteria for TTTS.  The bleeding in their brains could have been caused by the disproportionate levels of amniotic fluids in each sac, but we'll never know.  We are thankful for the team of doctors that met with us and assured us things were going to be ok (Dr. Coleman, Dr. Gebb, Dr. Paidas, Dr. Khalek, and Dr. Agarwal - while the Center does have male doctors, this bad ass team was all women, I thought that was pretty awesome...).  During this virtual week-long reunion, I've seen stories of babies who have faced much greater hardships than my girls, and I'm grateful that, despite what we've been through, it wasn't anything that Morristown Medical Center couldn't handle.
I'm normally a huge shutterbug, but the circumstances of these trips were obviously different.. here's the one decent picture I have leaving Philly that first trip.  We had learned about the possibility of laser ablation surgery and the bleeding in the twins' brains, and knew we'd be back in 3 days for my first ever MRI.

I'll leave you with a few videos of the shenanigans they've been getting up to lately, and hopefully I'll write more now that schools is done in SEVEN DAYSSSSSS!
