I started this post on Monday and now it's Friday and it doesn't seem like blogger saved my work, unlike all the other Google apps that do it automatically. Cool.
So add sleep training to the list of things that are made more difficult with twins. Not that mine need sleep training for nighttime; they've been sleeping through the night since they were just shy of 4 months/2 months corrected, which I think is pretty good, although the first time they did it, I woke up in the morning having not been startled out of my sleep by a crying baby like I had for the last 2 months, and I thought something terrible had happened. Nope, just a full ten hours of sleep. Sanity game changer.
Now we're trying to sleep train for naps because we don't have a schedule and the 'going to bed' part of nighttime is awful (usually just Delilah). We started Monday following the extinction/cry it out method, using average wake times for our babies' corrected age, and all that jazz. I think the first day actually went pretty well and we got 3 hour-long-ish naps. The rest of the week has gone to hell and I want to die. Babies that scream for twenty minutes when you put them down, wake their sister up, who then screams for twenty minutes while the first one nods off. Rinse. Repeat for an hour. Then no one is well rested and we'll just cry for the hour and a half they're awake before their next nap time. Some how we fit a bottle in, I dropped solids bc I'm not a masochist, maybe we'll do some tummy time, which is also mostly crying. Thank sweet baby Jesus they've still been sleeping ok at night, usual 10-20 mins of crying to start us off, but then 12 hours of quiet.
I don't understand how it's possible for twin moms to not feel or look wretched because my nerves are shot and I've eaten a lot of garbage this week when I had every intention of starting to eat better.
And now it's Saturday and I still haven't posted this (not surprised) BUT everyone napped for 45 mins straight, at the same time, so I guess we're making progress? Keep your fingers crossed..
Also, fun developmental thing.. the girls are starting to reach for things, which will probably make playtime actually fun lol
